What to do in Paris

What to do in Paris

Actress Audrey Hepburn once said “Paris is always a good idea”, and she was not wrong! Paris is one of my favourite cities and this list will tell you all of my favourite things to do when you're in the city of light!

1. A trip up the The Eiffel Tower

This is a complete must, it is to Paris what the Empire State is to New York. An icon of design and engineering it was originally created for the entrance to the 1889 World Fair and was never taken down afterwards! The views from all levels are stunning, and give an incredible look at the city from above. You can pinpoint all of the iconic sights from the top, and if you're lucky, you may see a proposal or two, as hundreds of people propose every week on the iconic structure.

2.A snack at the Cafe Marly

Okay, this one is not that budget friendly (I learned this the hard way) but it is so worth it for the stunning views across the Musee de Louvre, and I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu (Croque Monsieur) and it was totally the best one I've ever had, even though I had to scrimp later on, the view is stunning, the perfect place to soak up the Paris ambience! Maybe going for breakfast would be more affordable, or just to grab a very scenic coffee for a break from the sights.

3. A walk around the Place du Tertre

The Place du Tertre is a square a few streets away from the Sacre Cœur in the Monmartre district, but don't be fooled, it is more than just a tree lined square, it is the artistic home of Paris! Artists such as Picasso, Renoir and Utrillo were all residents of the square, and you can buy beautiful artwork form independent artists before sipping on some coffee from one of the coffee shops that line the square. The perfect place for people watching! Fun fact: In 1986 my granny and my mum went and bought a piece of artwork from on the the sellers, and when they returned in 2016, the gene was passed down to me and I bought one!

4. A visit to Laduree

Laduree was my first love in Paris, upon entering their stores your senses are completely overrun! They are modelled in a "Louis XIV" style architecture, (think The palace of Versailles) and are just about the most luxurious stores you can buy food in ever! because of the luxury, the pastries are PRICEY!! but the macarons are totally worth it, they are the nicest ever and the whole store experience is to die for!

5. A tour of the Opera Garnier

The Opera Garnier, or "Palais Garnier" as it is known locally is such an incredible building to explore. Its grand reception rooms and heady architecture are enough to leave even the most bored tourist breathless, its sheer scale and elegance hark back to a former time, whereby going to the opera was the highlight of the season. Thats what I love about it, the romance of the building is so prominent, and will make you want more. It was the location for Stella McCartney's recent show at fashion week, a wise choice in my opinion.

Just reminiscing about Paris makes me want to go again, I'm desperate not to miss the Dior exhibition that ends in January, so maybe it will be sooner than I think...

BRANDED FASHION - LOVE IT OR LOATH IT

BRANDED FASHION - LOVE IT OR LOATH IT Brand logos are extremely popular with current Instagram bloggers and their street style, but they continue to divide the fashion community as a question of taste. Many people wrongly judge their fashion aesthetic around how much their outfit costs, and designer logos are an immediate way to communicate that to the average passer by. Personally, I like the look of a logo, so long as it positively impacts the outfit and is not done to "show off" the brand. Many people feel that any brand logo is done to enforce the brand on others, but if you look deeper than just how much that item of designer clothing may cost, logos are a good example of iconic graphic design, and I personally love the look of a logo (if done *classily*). The first logo to outwardly show a brand name was the monogram print of French trunk maker Louis Vuitton. In 1896, Louis Vuitton's son, Georges created the pattern in a bid to prevent counterfeiting of the...

DIY: Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram Personalisation

DIY: Louis Vuitton Mon Monogram Personalisation Louis Vuitton has a personalisation service whereby you can get several stripes, as well as 3 initials painted on some of their bags and accessories in the Monogram and Damier Graphite canvas prints. I think the designs are screen printed over the canvas (because they are so flawless and are very uniform) using special pigment before being varnished, so I decided to try it myself!    Louis Vuitton's Passport cover with Mon Monogram Sadly I don't have the means to screen print myself, so I decided to paint them instead. You will need; Acrylic paint, I find the vibrant colours and white look the best (Acrylic paint is very hardwearing so will not need touching up very often) Paintbrushes (the smaller the better) Tape (to get crisp lines, frog tape works really well) Something to paint on (a cardholder or pencil case are great, but you could do it on pretty much anything) A pencil (to draw out the sh...

What to wear in Autumn

What to wear in Autumn Nothing says Autumn quite like the sartorial excellence of Burberry, who, year after year send the same iconic coat silhouette down the runway and still have everyone hungry for more... Hello everyone! Today, as I was putting away my summer wardrobe and getting out the Autumnal pieces, I thought it would be interesting to show what I love to wear in Autumn, its my favourite season for dressing so what could be better? Recently, the weathers' been cooler and less sunny here in the UK, so a warmer wardrobe is officially needed! Firstly, I am quite a smart dresser, so apologies of you prefer a more sporty or casual look, but that's just not me. This list is more for someone who dresses quite classic and smart, but I assure you every one of theses pieces can be dressed down.  Lets Begin! (tap/click pictures to buy) Number One: a good coat And by good, I mean something made of wool, tailored and super classic. I love a double breasted wool coat, ...
